Once your console is modded, getting into a game is quick and simple. The exact steps depend on which method you chose, but the day-to-day experience is the same: pick a title and play.
From an ODE
With an ODE installed, power on the console and you are greeted by an on-screen menu listing the games on your SD card or USB stick. Scroll with the controller, select a title, and it loads near-instantly — no spinning disc, no waiting. Many menus let you sort or page through large libraries.
From a burned disc
With the MIL-CD method, simply insert your burned CD-R and power on, just as you would with a retail disc. The console boots the homebrew or backup directly.
Through DreamShell
DreamShell adds a richer front end, with a file browser and loader that can mount images and launch them, plus extra utilities. It is a great option when you want more control than a basic ODE menu offers.
If a game will not load
Check that the image format is correct, the card is properly prepared, and, for imports, that region patching is in effect. Most loading failures trace back to one of these.
For preparing the images themselves, see GDI/CDI formats.
