What You'll Need

The exact toolkit depends on your chosen method, but most projects draw from the same short list. Gather everything before you start so you are not stuck halfway through.

For burned discs (MIL-CD)

• Quality blank CD-R media — cheaper discs sometimes read poorly.
• A computer with a CD burner and reliable burning software.
• Homebrew or backup images in CDI format, ready to burn.

For an ODE install

• The ODE itself: GDEMU, USB-GDROM, or Terraonion MODE.
• A good-quality SD card or USB stick, formatted correctly.
• A tri-wing screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver to open the shell.
• For some GDEMU clones, a small mounting bracket or 3D-printed tray.

For everyone

• A clean, static-safe workspace with good lighting.
• Disc images in GDI or CDI format for your library.
• A way to back up your VMU saves.
