PPSSPP
PPSSPP (PSP)
PPSSPP emulates Sony's PlayStation Portable. Its UWP build sideloads onto Xbox One through the Device Portal and runs the handheld's library on the big screen, often at higher resolution than the original hardware.
Setup
- Install the PPSSPP UWP package via the Device Portal.
- Launch it and enable file access so it can browse your drive.
- Add the folder on your USB drive that holds your PSP games.
- Pick a game from the list to play.
Content
PPSSPP loads PSP game images, typically in ISO or compressed CSO form, that you create from discs or memory cards you own. Keep them on a USB drive in a tidy folder. No separate BIOS is required, which makes setup simpler than some other emulators.
Performance
The PSP is a relatively light target, so emulation tends to run smoothly on Xbox One, including full speed on the One S and One X. You can often raise the internal rendering resolution for a noticeably sharper image than the original handheld produced.
| Aspect | Notes |
|---|---|
| Speed | Generally full speed |
| Resolution | Can be upscaled |
| BIOS | Not required |
A few titles use effects that strain emulation. If one runs poorly, lowering the rendering resolution or adjusting graphics options usually helps.
