Developer Account Issues
Dev Mode is tied to a registered developer account. Most activation and entitlement failures trace back to something in the account state rather than the console.
Registration
- Not registered. You must register the account as a developer on the partner dashboard before Dev Mode will activate.
- Still processing. Newly submitted registrations can take time to finalize. Activation will not complete until it does.
- Wrong account. Activate with the exact account you registered. Signing in with a different account is the most common mistake.
Sign-In Problems
- Confirm the console is signed in with the correct Microsoft account.
- Sign out fully and back in to refresh a stale session token.
- Verify the account is in good standing and not flagged for an unrelated issue.
An account suspended or restricted for any reason cannot activate Dev Mode. Resolve account standing through normal support channels first.
Multiple Consoles
One developer account can activate Dev Mode on more than one console, subject to the platform's limits. Track which consoles you have registered so you do not exhaust your allowance unexpectedly.
When in doubt, confirm registration on the dashboard from a browser before touching the console. The account state there is the source of truth.
