Loading Games

With your EverDrive-GG card prepared, playing a game is quick. Power on the console with the cart inserted and the firmware menu appears, listing the contents of your card. From here you browse folders and launch any title.

Launching a Title

Use the directional pad to scroll the file list and open your games folder.
Highlight the ROM you want and press the confirm button to load it.
The menu writes the game to flash and starts it, behaving like an original cartridge.

Saving and Returning

Games that use battery saves will store progress, which the firmware writes back to the card. To pick a different title, power the console off and on to return to the menu. Some firmware versions support a reset shortcut, but a clean power cycle is always reliable.

Organize for Speed

Sorting ROMs into folders by genre or alphabetically keeps the browser fast and manageable as your library grows. Clean, consistent file names make games easy to find.

If a Game Will Not Load

Confirm the file is a valid, complete Game Gear ROM and not a compressed archive.
Reseat the cartridge and clean its contacts if the menu freezes.
Update the cart firmware, since newer versions improve compatibility with edge-case titles.
