What You'll Need

Tooling for a Saturn ODE install is modest. Gather everything before you start so you're not stuck mid-disassembly.

Tools

  • Phillips screwdriver sized for the shell screws
  • Plastic spudger or pry tool for separating clips without scratching
  • Anti-static wrist strap or a grounded surface to handle boards safely
  • Tweezers for the ribbon latch and small connectors
  • Good lighting and a clear, static-free workspace

Parts

  • Your chosen ODE board in the correct 20-pin or 21-pin variant
  • A quality SD card for your game library
  • The correct firmware for your board and region

For the cartridge route

The Pseudo Saturn Kai path needs essentially nothing extra: just the boot cartridge and, if you intend to burn discs, blank CD-R media and a burner. No tools, no soldering.

Don't forget

Confirm your console's region and ribbon pin count before ordering parts. The Saturn outputs native RGB, so a quality RGB/SCART cable is all you need for sharp video, no mod required.
