EZ-Flash 3-in-1

The 3-in-1 needs a separate DS-slot flashcart to load GBA software, and you should only use content you legally own. Back up any saves before experimenting.

EZ-Flash 3-in-1 (on DS)

The EZ-Flash 3-in-1 is not a standalone GBA cart. It is a Slot-2 accessory designed for the Nintendo DS and DS Lite, which both have a GBA cartridge slot. Paired with a DS Slot-1 flashcart, it lets a DS run GBA games and also adds rumble and extra RAM for certain homebrew.

How it works

The 3-in-1 has its own flash memory, but it cannot boot on its own. A loader running from a Slot-1 flashcart writes a GBA ROM into the 3-in-1, then reboots the DS into GBA mode to play it.

  1. Set up Slot-1
Prepare a DS flashcart with a loader application that supports the 3-in-1.
  2. Insert both carts
Place the Slot-1 flashcart and the 3-in-1 into your DS or DS Lite.
  3. Write the game
Use the loader to copy a GBA ROM into the 3-in-1's onboard memory.
  4. Reboot to play
The DS restarts into GBA mode and runs the loaded title.

DS only

This route requires an original DS or DS Lite. The DSi and later dropped the Slot-2 GBA port, so the 3-in-1 will not fit them.
