Loading games

Only load software you are entitled to use, such as backups of cartridges you own and freely distributed homebrew. Keep a copy of your saves elsewhere in case a card fails.

Loading Games

With a prepared card and configured cart, loading games is the easy part. The menu does most of the work; your job is mainly to keep files organized.

Organizing your files

  • Use folders: group ROMs into a games folder rather than dumping them at the root.
  • Clean filenames: clear names make the menu easy to browse.
  • Keep saves together: let the cart store saves where it expects so they are easy to find.
  1. Copy ROMs
Move your game files into a folder on the SD card from your computer.
  2. Insert the cart
Eject the card safely, place it in the cart, and slot the cart into the console.
  3. Open the menu
Power on and browse to your games folder in the cart's menu.
  4. Select and play
Choose a title; the cart loads it and applies the correct save type.

If a game stutters

A rare title may need a specific save-type setting. Most carts auto-detect it, but you can override the save type in the cart options if needed.
