Dashboard & CB versions
Dashboard & CB Versions
After the motherboard, your dashboard version and CB (bootloader) state are the most important facts about your console. Together they decide whether a software method is open to you or whether you must use a glitch.
The dashboard
The dashboard is the console's system software build, identified by a number. The value 7371 is a meaningful threshold: a phat console on dashboard 7371 or lower with an unpatched CB can use JTAG. Consoles updated beyond that point lost that path.
The CB bootloader
The CB is an early stage in the console's boot chain. Whether it is "patched" determines if the JTAG software method still applies. An unpatched CB is required for JTAG eligibility.
| Condition | Implication |
|---|---|
| Phat, dashboard 7371 or lower, unpatched CB | JTAG is possible |
| Phat, updated past the threshold | Use RGH or R-JTAG |
| Slim (Trinity/Corona) | RGH only; JTAG never applies |
Do not update your dashboard while planning a project. An update can patch the CB and permanently close the JTAG path on an otherwise-eligible console.
Check and write down both values before choosing a method, and re-verify them if anything looks inconsistent.
