Glossary

Key terms you will meet throughout this wiki.

  • Motherboard revision — the specific hardware version of your console (Xenon, Zephyr, Falcon, Opus, Jasper, Trinity, Corona). It dictates which methods are possible.
  • Phat — the original, larger Xbox 360 chassis covering the Xenon through Jasper boards.
  • Slim — the redesigned, smaller chassis using the Trinity and Corona boards.
  • Dashboard — the console's system software version. Numbers like 7371 matter because some exploits only work at or below a given build.
  • CB (bootloader) — an early stage of the boot chain. Whether it is "patched" affects whether software methods like JTAG apply.
  • NAND — the console's internal flash storage holding system software and configuration.
  • JTAG — a software-based method for older phat consoles on early, unpatched bootloaders and dashboards.
  • RGH (Reset Glitch Hack) — a family of glitch-based methods. Variants include RGH1.2, RGH2, and RGH3.
  • RGH3 — a newer glitch approach that, on supported boards, needs no dedicated glitch chip.
  • R-JTAG — a hybrid that combines a glitch trigger with a JTAG-style boot path.
  • CFW / custom dashboard — community software that launches your homebrew once a method is in place.
