Slim Models (Trinity / Corona)
The slim Xbox 360 is the smaller, redesigned chassis. It uses two motherboard revisions, and both rely on glitch-based RGH methods rather than the software-only JTAG route, which never applies to slims.
| Board | Notes | Typical methods |
|---|---|---|
| Trinity | First slim board; well-documented for glitching | RGH1.2, RGH3 |
| Corona | Later slim board with variations in storage and layout | RGH3 often preferred; RGH1.2 also viable |
Why RGH on slims
Slim consoles shipped after the bootloader changes that closed the JTAG path, so a glitch-based method is required. The RGH family triggers the boot chain to run unsigned code.
RGH3 advantage
RGH3 is especially attractive on Trinity and Corona because, on supported boards, it can be done without a dedicated glitch chip, simplifying the install. RGH1.2 remains a reliable alternative.
Corona variations
Corona boards come in sub-variants that differ in storage type and certain connections. Confirm your specific variant before selecting tools, as it affects the install details.
Even on slims, still record your dashboard version so you follow current, matching guidance.
