FreeStyle Dash
FreeStyle Dash (FSD)
FreeStyle Dash, almost always called FSD, is the classic replacement dashboard for a modified Xbox 360. For years it was the default choice in the community, and many established setups still run it today. Like other homebrew dashboards, it replaces the everyday home screen and acts as your launcher for games, applications, and emulators.
What It Does
FSD scans your storage for content, organizes it into a browsable library, and can fetch cover art and metadata so each title looks polished. It launches content directly from internal or external storage and supports plugins for added features.
- Library management with cover art and game information.
- Plugin loading for extending functionality.
- Customizable skins that change the entire look of the interface.
- Stable, well-documented behavior built up over many years.
FSD Today
FSD is mature and reliable, but it is no longer actively developed the way newer dashboards are. As a result, much of the community has shifted toward Aurora, which shares similar concepts with a more modern interface.
Still Perfectly Usable
If you inherit a setup running FSD or simply prefer it, there is nothing wrong with keeping it. For brand-new installs, however, most current guides point newcomers toward Aurora instead.
Either way, FSD remains a dependable part of Xbox 360 homebrew history.
