Plugins

Plugins

Plugins extend what your modified Xbox 360 can do by adding features that run alongside your dashboard. Rather than being standalone applications you launch separately, plugins hook into the system to provide extra functionality in the background or directly within your homebrew dashboard.

What They Add

  • Extra dashboard features and interface enhancements.
  • Quality-of-life tools accessible while you use the console.
  • Background services that improve how content loads or behaves.

How They Work

Both Aurora and FreeStyle Dash support loading plugins. You place the plugin files on your storage and configure your dashboard or boot setup to load them when the console starts. Once active, a plugin does its job automatically, and you manage it through your dashboard's settings.

Only install plugins from sources you trust, and stick to legal, well-documented tools. Poorly made or untrusted plugins can cause instability or unexpected behavior.

Use Them Wisely

Plugins are powerful but optional. A clean setup with just a dashboard works perfectly well, so add plugins only when they solve a real need. Introduce them one at a time, and if your console starts behaving strangely, removing a recently added plugin is a good first troubleshooting step. Read each plugin's documentation so you understand exactly what it changes before enabling it.
