First boot

Once XeLL has confirmed your console boots unsigned code, the final step is setting up a custom dashboard so the machine is usable day to day. The dashboard is the friendly front end that launches your legal homebrew, emulators, and your own game backups, replacing the bare loader with a proper menu.

What first boot sets up

  • A custom dashboard that starts automatically and gives you a home screen.
  • A place for homebrew, so apps and emulators are easy to find and launch.
  • Your library, organized for everyday use.

The overview

  1. Install the dashboard
Copy a custom dashboard to the console's storage.
  2. Set it to launch
Configure the console so the dashboard boots by default.
  3. Add homebrew
Place your legal homebrew and emulators where the dashboard can see them.
  4. Test it
Restart and confirm everything launches cleanly.

You are done

With a dashboard installed and your homebrew in place, the console is fully set up. Keep that original NAND dump safe in case you ever need to restore the machine.

From here you can explore the wider homebrew ecosystem and run whatever legal software you like.
