Regions
Regions
The Xbox 360 was sold in multiple regions, and region differences can affect a few practical aspects of a homebrew project. They do not change which method your console qualifies for, since that is driven by motherboard and dashboard/CB, but they are worth knowing.
What region affects
- Power supply standards differ between territories, so accessories and adapters must match your console's region.
- Original retail discs and content historically observed regional rules; this matters only for legally owned media you use.
- Labeling and date codes on the console vary by region, which can help during identification.
What region does not change
| Factor | Driven by |
|---|---|
| Which method applies | Motherboard and dashboard/CB, not region |
| JTAG eligibility | Dashboard 7371 or lower with unpatched CB |
| RGH variant choice | Board revision |
Identify regardless of region
Whatever region your console came from, the identification process is the same: confirm the board, then the dashboard and CB.
Use region clues only as a supporting detail during identification, never as the deciding factor for your method.
