Phat Models
The "phat" Xbox 360 is the original, larger chassis. It spans several motherboard revisions, each with slightly different modding characteristics. Identifying the exact board still matters, and you must pair it with your dashboard and CB state.
| Board | Notes | Typical methods |
|---|---|---|
| Xenon | Earliest board; runs hottest and is the original launch design | JTAG (if eligible) or RGH1.2 |
| Zephyr | Added an HDMI port over Xenon | JTAG (if eligible) or RGH |
| Falcon | Smaller process; cooler and more efficient than earlier boards | JTAG (if eligible) or RGH |
| Opus | Uncommon revision used in certain repairs | RGH |
| Jasper | Last phat family; cooler still and popular for glitching | JTAG (if eligible) or RGH |
The JTAG condition
On phat boards, JTAG is only available if the console is on dashboard 7371 or lower with an unpatched CB. Many units were updated past that point and therefore require an RGH method or R-JTAG instead.
Eligible but updated?
If your phat would have qualified for JTAG but its dashboard was patched, R-JTAG can restore a JTAG-style boot path using a glitch trigger.
Confirm the exact revision by reading on-board markings before committing.
