Credits and Sources

This wiki is original work written for the Game Boy DMG, Pocket, and Color community. The text on every page was composed specifically for this project and is not copied from any other guide. It is, however, informed by the collective knowledge that hobbyists, repair technicians, modders, and chiptune musicians have shared over many years.

Inspired by community knowledge

The Game Boy survives as a living platform because of an open, generous community. Repair techniques, mod designs such as prosound and CleanAmp, homebrew toolchains, and chiptune workflows have all been developed and refined collaboratively. This wiki distills that shared understanding into plain, original explanations.

  • Modders and repair guides whose documented techniques shaped the audio and maintenance pages.
  • Homebrew developers whose tools and examples made the software pages possible.
  • Chiptune artists who proved the hardware is a serious instrument.

Attribution

Specific source documents and individual community contributors who inspired particular sections are credited in the accompanying Credits.txt file. If you believe something here should carry additional attribution, that file is the place we maintain it.

Corrections welcome

Hardware knowledge evolves, and mistakes happen. If you spot an error or have a clearer explanation, contributions and corrections help keep these pages accurate for everyone who comes after you. credits
