Flashcart setup

Flashcart Setup

Setting up an N64 flashcart is refreshingly simple because the console needs nothing done to it. Almost all the work happens on your computer with the SD card.

  1. Prepare the SD card
Format the card and copy the flashcart's menu/operating files onto it, following the prep steps. This menu is what you see when the cart boots.
  2. Add your games
Copy your backups into the game folder the cart expects. Keep the structure clean so browsing stays fast.
  3. Insert the SD card into the cart
Seat the card in the flashcart's slot, then insert the flashcart into the powered-off console.
  4. Power on
The cart's menu should appear. From here you browse and launch titles just like picking a game from a list.
  5. Update if needed
Flashcart firmware/menu updates improve compatibility. Apply them from the SD card as the cart's instructions describe.

Region reminder

The cart boots backups regardless of their original region, but it cannot change your console's TV standard. A PAL console outputs 50Hz and an NTSC console outputs 60Hz no matter which game you load.

If the menu does not appear, recheck the SD card's format and that the menu files sit where the cart expects. setup
