xStation setup
Setting Up the xStation
The xStation is an optical drive emulator (ODE) that replaces the worn mechanical CD drive in an original PlayStation. Instead of spinning physical discs, it streams disc images stored on a microSD card. This page covers preparing the card and navigating the on-screen menu once the hardware is installed.
Before You Begin
An ODE is intended for playing backups of games you legally own. Dump your own discs to disc images and keep the originals.
Preparing the Card
Format a microSD card as exFAT (FAT32 also works on smaller cards). Copy your .bin/.cue game images onto it, keeping each game's files together. A tidy folder per game keeps the menu readable.
- Format Wipe the card and format it cleanly.
- Copy Place your disc images in clearly named folders.
- Insert Seat the card and power on the console.
Using the Menu
On boot, the xStation presents a list of detected games. Select a title to mount its image, then the console boots it as if a real disc were inserted. The menu also exposes options for swapping discs mid-game and for re-scanning the card after you add new titles.
Never remove the SD card while the console is powered on. Always shut down first to avoid corrupting the card.
If a game fails to appear, confirm the .cue file correctly references its matching .bin and re-scan from the menu.
