Early slim models

Early slim models (SCPH-70000 – 77000)

The slim redesign begins at SCPH-70000 and runs through roughly SCPH-77000. These consoles are dramatically smaller and lighter than the fat, and they integrated an Ethernet port directly into the unit, removing the need for the fat's separate network adapter.

The trade-off is that slims have no internal hard-drive bay, so the HDD loading method available to fat owners is not practical here. Instead, slim owners typically load games over the network via SMB, from USB, or — for near-HDD speed — from a microSD card using the MX4SIO adapter in the memory-card slot.

Early slims are fully FreeMcBoot-compatible, making them simple to softmod. They run cooler and quieter than fats and are a great pick if you prefer a compact, reliable console and don't mind loading from USB, SMB, or MX4SIO rather than an internal drive.
