Games won't load in OPL

Open PS2 Loader starts fine, but your games either don't appear in the list, or you select one and it freezes on a black screen instead of booting. This is usually a problem with how the game files are named, stored, or read.

Likely causes

  • ISO files placed in the wrong folder or named incorrectly.
  • The storage device set as the wrong source in OPL settings.
  • A bad or incomplete ISO dump.
  • Compatibility modes not enabled for a fussy title.
  • Unsupported file system or oversized files on FAT32.

Fixes

  1. Place ISOs in a folder named DVD for DVD games and CD for CD games at the root of the device.
  2. In OPL settings, enable the right source: USB Device, HDD, or ETH/SMB, then save and refresh.
  3. Keep file names short and free of special characters; very long names can be ignored.
  4. Re-dump the disc if the ISO is corrupt; verify file size matches the source.
  5. Set per-game compatibility modes, starting with Mode 1 and Mode 2, then test.

If one game refuses every mode while others work, that title may simply be incompatible with your OPL version; update OPL to the latest release and retry.
