wLaunchELF
wLaunchELF / uLaunchELF — the file manager
wLaunchELF, also seen as uLaunchELF or simply uLE, is the all-purpose file manager and toolkit of the PlayStation 2 homebrew scene. If Open PS2 Loader is the program that runs your games, uLaunchELF is the program that helps you manage everything around them: copying files, organizing storage, and launching other homebrew. Most modded consoles keep it close at hand because it does so many small jobs in one place.
What it does
- Browse and copy files across USB drives, memory cards, the internal HDD, and more.
- Manage memory cards by copying, deleting, or backing up save data.
- Launch ELF files, which is how most PS2 homebrew, including OPL itself, is started.
- Run handy tools such as a text viewer and basic disc functions.
How it fits with OPL
During setup you often use uLaunchELF to copy the OPL program and your configuration onto a memory card or drive, and to move files between devices. Many people set their console to boot straight into OPL, then keep uLaunchELF available for maintenance whenever they need to shuffle files or rescue a save.

The Swiss-army knife
When something needs moving, copying, or launching outside of OPL, uLaunchELF is almost always the answer.
It is a powerful tool with full access to your storage, so take care when deleting or formatting. There is no undo for a file you erase.
