Configuring

Configuring Your Dashboard

Once a custom dashboard is installed, a little configuration goes a long way toward a smooth experience. Each dashboard stores its settings differently, but the goals are the same: correct video output, a working network, and menus that point at your content.

Video and audio

Set the dashboard to match your display. Choose the right resolution, enable widescreen if your TV supports it, and pick the proper aspect ratio. If the screen is blank or distorted after launch, you've likely selected a mode your TV can't show.

Network and FTP

Confirm the console pulls an IP address over Ethernet, then note it for FTP transfers. Change default FTP credentials for safety.

Back up your config

Before making big changes, copy the working configuration file to your PC over FTP. If an edit breaks the menu, you can restore the known-good version in seconds.

Make one change at a time and test it. Editing several settings at once makes it hard to tell which one caused a problem.
