Flashcart setup

Flashcart Setup

Never interrupt a firmware update. Pulling the card or cutting power mid-update can corrupt the flashcart's firmware and leave it unable to boot. Make sure the console is stable before you start.

Setting up a Mega EverDrive Pro or Mega SD is straightforward once your SD card is prepared. Follow the phases below to get from a blank card to a working menu.

  1. Prepare the card
Format the SD card and copy the official firmware as described in the SD prep guide.
  2. Insert the card
Slot the prepared card firmly into the flashcart until it seats.
  3. Insert the cart
With the console off, push the flashcart fully into the cartridge slot.
  4. Power on
Turn the console on and wait for the flashcart menu to appear.
  5. Update if prompted
Run any firmware update from the menu, then let it reboot fully.
  6. Launch a game
Browse to a title and start it to confirm the setup is complete.

If the menu won't appear

Reseat the cart and card, then try a freshly formatted card. Most boot failures come from the SD card rather than the flashcart hardware.

Once you reach the menu and a game runs, your flashcart is ready for daily use across any supported model.
