SD card preparation
SD card preparation
The FXPak Pro reads everything from an SD card, so a properly prepared card is the foundation of a reliable flashcart. The process is quick and needs no special tools beyond a card reader.
- Choose a good cardA modest-capacity, brand-name card is ideal. Reliability matters more than size, since a flaky card is the most common cause of save corruption.
- Format itFormat the card to the standard filesystem the flashcart expects, using a full format rather than a quick one for a clean start.
- Copy the firmware filesPlace the FXPak Pro's menu and support files in the root of the card so the cart can boot its interface.
- Organize your gamesSort titles into folders so the on-screen menu is easy to navigate.
Keep a backup
Once your card is set up, keep a copy of its contents on your computer. If the card ever fails, you can restore everything quickly. Note that this is flashcart firmware on the card, not console firmware; the SNES itself has nothing to flash.
Safely eject the card before removing it to avoid corrupting the menu or your save files.
