AV outputs
AV outputs
How your GameCube connects to a display depends heavily on which model you own, and this is one of the biggest practical differences between the two boards.
Analog output
Every GameCube has the analog AV multi-out, carrying composite, S-video, component, and RGB depending on the cable and region. Both models support analog, so any console can reach a standard television.
Digital output
Only the DOL-001 includes the separate digital AV out port. This carries an uncompressed digital signal that period digital cables and modern adapters can turn into a pristine picture, free of analog noise. The later DOL-101 dropped this port entirely.
| Output | DOL-001 | DOL-101 |
|---|---|---|
| Analog multi-out | Yes | Yes |
| Digital AV out | Yes | No |
What Swiss adds
Swiss can force progressive scan and adjust video modes on supported games, improving output regardless of cable. But the cleanest signal still comes from a DOL-001's digital port.
If image quality is your priority, the digital port is the single strongest reason to choose a DOL-001. For everyone else, good analog cables remain perfectly enjoyable on the DOL-101.
