Game won't boot

Before assuming a console fault, confirm the image and loader settings. Most boot failures are software, not hardware, and reflashing or opening the console solves nothing here.

Game will not boot

A game backup that loads in Swiss but refuses to start usually has a format, patch, or region issue. Work through the loader settings before suspecting the file is bad.

  1. Check the format: confirm the image is a supported type for your loading method. Some loaders need ISO while others handle RVZ or NKit; an unsupported format silently fails.
  2. Review patches: in Swiss, verify the correct loading patch is applied for SD, USB, or network so the game can read from your source.
  3. Match the region: a region mismatch can stop a game booting; use Swiss to force the matching video and region mode if needed.
  4. Test the file: verify the image against a known checksum, and try a fresh dump if it is corrupt.
  5. Try another title: if one game fails but others boot, the issue is that specific image, not your setup.

Frequent reasons

  • Corrupt or incomplete disc image.
  • Wrong loading patch for the chosen storage.
  • Region or video mode conflict with the display.

Isolate the variable

One failing game means a bad file. Every game failing means a loader or setting problem.
