Methods compared
Every method below ultimately launches Swiss. They differ in cost, whether you need to open or modify the console, and whether they also provide storage. Use this table to find the trade-off that suits you.
| Method | Type | Hardware work | Auto-boots Swiss | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Save exploit | Entry point | None | No | Free; needs a compatible game and GCMM-written save. |
| SD2SP2 | Storage | Open bottom panel | No | Fast SD via serial port 2; needs a separate entry point. |
| SD Gecko / SD Media Launcher | Storage (+ boot disc) | None | With boot disc | Memory card slot adapter; the Media Launcher disc launches Swiss. |
| PicoBoot | Entry point | Solder ~5 wires | Yes | Cheap Pi Pico modchip; cleanest power-on experience. |
| ODE (GCLoader) | Entry point + storage | Replace disc drive | Yes | Priciest; native-feel loading, great if the drive is dead. |
A quick recommendation
For a no-tools start, use the save exploit. For a permanent setup, most people pick PicoBoot plus SD2SP2 for low cost, or an ODE if they want the cleanest loading and do not mind the price. Remember that storage-only options always need a separate entry point.
