Swiss
Swiss
Swiss is the heart of GameCube homebrew. It is an open-source utility that acts as a file browser, game loader, and toolbox all in one. Whatever entry point you choose, the goal is the same: get Swiss running, and from there you can do almost everything else.
What it does
- Browses and launches homebrew apps in .dol and .elf format.
- Boots full game backups from SD, an ODE, or other supported media.
- Reads compressed disc images in the NKit and RVZ formats, which shrink ISOs dramatically without losing data.
- Manages memory cards, backs up and restores saves, and patches games on the fly.
Where games and apps live
Swiss expects your homebrew and game images on an SD card, read through an adapter like SD2SP2 or an SD Gecko. It can also read from an attached ODE. Files are usually organized into folders so the loader stays tidy.
Why one loader?
Because Swiss is actively maintained and handles nearly every loading scenario, the community standardized on it. Each entry point on this wiki is simply a different doorway to the same program, so once Swiss boots the rest of your workflow looks identical.
