Compatibility notes
Not every feature works on every console or with every setup. This page collects the important compatibility caveats so you can plan before buying parts or attempting a mod.
Model differences
| Feature | DOL-001 | DOL-101 |
|---|---|---|
| Digital AV port | Yes | No |
| GCVideo HDMI | Yes | No |
| Official Component cable | Yes | No |
| Serial port 2 (SD2SP2) | Yes | Yes |
| Analog output | Yes | Yes |
Storage and ports
- The Broadband Adapter and SD2SP2 share the bottom serial port, so you cannot use both at once.
- SD Gecko uses a memory card slot instead, leaving the serial port free.
- Very large SD cards can be unreliable; a modest, genuine card is safer.
Image formats
- ISO is universally compatible; RVZ and NKit depend on loader support.
- Multi-disc games keep each disc as its own image and prompt for the swap.
Region
- Saves are region-tied; a PAL save may not load on an NTSC game.
- LAN play needs matching region and game version across consoles.
Check before you buy
Confirm your console model and ports before purchasing a mod or cable, since the DOL-001 and DOL-101 differ in what they support.
