DOL-001

The DOL-001 is the original GameCube board and the most capable for homebrew. If you have a choice of consoles, this is the one to mod, thanks to two features the later revision dropped.

What makes it special

Serial Port 2 — a small expansion port on the underside that accepts the SD2SP2 adapter for tidy microSD storage.
Digital AV output — a dedicated digital video port on the back, enabling the cleanest possible picture through digital cables.

Together these make the DOL-001 the preferred platform. SD2SP2 is one of the most popular entry points precisely because it relies on Serial Port 2, and the digital port unlocks output options no other GameCube revision can match natively.

Not every DOL-001 has SP2. Some late units, often called revision 1.1, omit the Serial Port 2 connector even though the model label still reads DOL-001. Check the physical port before buying an SD2SP2 adapter.

Best entry points

If SP2 is present: SD2SP2. Otherwise fall back to an SD Gecko in the memory-card slot, the game-save exploit, or a hardware mod like PicoBoot or GCLoader.

Whatever you choose, Swiss runs the same. The DOL-001 simply gives you more doors to walk through and the best video options once inside.
