Choosing an entry point
Choosing an entry point
An entry point is just the door you use to get Swiss running. They range from completely free and reversible to permanent hardware installs. Your choice depends on your model, your budget, and whether you are willing to solder.
Software only
The game-save exploit uses a vulnerable retail game and a memory card prepared with a tool like GCMM. It costs nothing beyond the game and works on any model, but you must launch it each time and own the right disc.
Adapters
- SD2SP2 — a microSD adapter that slots into Serial Port 2. Clean and tidy, but needs the SP2 connector found on most DOL-001 boards.
- SD Gecko / SD Media Launcher — fits the memory-card slot, so it works on any model including the DOL-101.
Hardware mods
- PicoBoot — a Raspberry Pi Pico that flashes a custom IPL so homebrew boots automatically. Permanent and requires soldering.
- GCLoader (ODE) — replaces the disc drive entirely, loading games from storage.
Quick recommendation
Want zero risk? Start with the game-save exploit or an SD Gecko. Want the cleanest long-term setup and own a DOL-001 with SP2? SD2SP2 is hard to beat.
