DOL-101

DOL-101

The DOL-101 is the later, cost-reduced GameCube revision. It plays every game the original does and runs homebrew just as well, but Nintendo removed two features to save money, which narrows your hardware options.

What's different

  • No Serial Port 2 — the SP2 connector is gone, so the SD2SP2 adapter cannot be used on this model.
  • No digital AV output — only the analog port remains, so digital-only video cables will not work directly.

None of this prevents homebrew. Swiss is identical regardless of board, and the most universal entry points are still fully available to you.

Best entry points

Use an SD Gecko or SD Media Launcher in the memory-card slot for SD storage, or the free game-save exploit. For a permanent setup, PicoBoot and the GCLoader ODE both work on the DOL-101 just like on the original board.

The only real losses are the convenience of SP2 storage and native digital video. For most players those are minor: an SD Gecko delivers the same library on a card slot, and analog output through good cables still looks fine on period displays. If pristine digital video is a priority, that is the one reason to seek out a DOL-001 instead.
