First boot

Do not install managers or run homebrew until you have confirmed the install succeeded. Acting on an unverified or partial install can cause crashes or data loss.

First Boot and Verification

After installing CFW, or after installing PS3HEN and enabling it, the next step is to confirm everything took hold correctly. A short verification pass now prevents confusing problems later and tells you which path the console is actually running.

  1. Return to the home screen
Let the console finish its first reboot and settle on the main menu before doing anything else.
  2. Check the version string
Open system information. A CFW build shows a custom firmware identifier; a HEN setup shows the HFW or official version with HEN active.
  3. Confirm HEN status
On the HEN path, make sure the enabler ran successfully and reported that homebrew support is active.
  4. Test a safe action
Browse the menus and confirm the system is stable and responsive before installing any additional software.

If something looks wrong

If the version string is unchanged, or HEN did not enable, do not proceed. Re-check that you used the correct package for your model and firmware, and repeat the relevant install step.

Once the console reports the expected state and feels stable, you are ready to install homebrew managers such as webMAN MOD, multiMAN, or IRISMAN and continue with the post-install checklist.
