Managers overview
Homebrew Managers Overview
On a PlayStation 3 running custom firmware (CFW) or a HEN-enabled system, a manager is the central application you use to organize, launch, and maintain everything else. Rather than navigating the stock XMB for every task, managers give you a unified interface for installing packages, mounting games, moving files, and tweaking system behavior.
Three managers dominate the community, and most users end up running a combination of them depending on their needs.
| Manager | Best for |
|---|---|
| webMAN MOD | Lightweight background plugin, FTP, system tweaks |
| multiMAN | Full graphical front-end, game browsing, backups |
| IRISMAN | Installing and managing game backups efficiently |
Choosing an approach
webMAN MOD runs quietly in the background and exposes its features through an in-game menu and a web browser interface. multiMAN and IRISMAN are standalone apps with rich on-screen menus. Many people install webMAN MOD alongside one of the others, since they complement each other rather than conflict.
Recommendation
If you are unsure where to start, install webMAN MOD first for its FTP and background features, then add IRISMAN or multiMAN for visual game management.
Throughout this section we cover each manager individually, plus the shared tasks they handle: package installs, themes, save data, and file transfers.
