No video (HDMI)

No Video After Changing Settings

You adjusted the resolution or display output and the screen went black immediately, leaving you unable to navigate back to fix it. HDMI Resolution

Likely Causes

  • You selected a resolution or refresh rate the connected TV does not support.
  • You switched between HDMI and component output without the matching cable attached.
  • A deep-color or RGB range setting your display rejects.

Fixes

  1. Force a safe video reset. With the console off, press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps, then release. The console reboots in 480p and asks you to confirm output settings.
  2. When the setup prompt appears, accept the safe resolution first, then raise it one step at a time, testing each level before confirming.
  3. If you changed output type, make sure the correct cable for that output is physically connected before reconfiguring.

Avoid a Repeat

Only enable settings your TV's specifications list as supported. When in doubt, leave automatic detection on and let the console negotiate the best signal.
