Choosing your method
Choosing Your Method
There is no single "best" route for every PSP. The right choice depends on your model, whether the system can boot normally, and how permanent you want the result. Here is how to decide.
If your PSP boots and is on 6.61
This covers the vast majority of users across all models. You install CFW entirely through software, with no special hardware needed.
| Goal | Recommended | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Lightweight, easy to remove | ARK-4 (LCFW) | Loads on demand; maintained; supports Go and Street |
| Permanent, no launcher | 6.61 Infinity | Reapplies CFW automatically on every boot |
Many people install ARK-4 and then add Infinity so the setup is both modern and permanent.
If your PSP is bricked or stuck on old firmware
If the system will not power on, will not update, or is an early unit that cannot reach 6.61 normally, use a Pandora's Battery. This hardware method revives PSP-1000 units and some early 2000 models. Note that the PSP-3000 and Go are hardware-patched against Pandora, so they rely on the software path instead.
Not sure?
If your PSP turns on and reaches the menu, start with the software path and ARK-4. Save Pandora's Battery for genuine recovery situations.
Once you have picked a method, head to the matching model page for the specifics that apply to your hardware.
