Battery & Charging Problems

The PSP won't charge, drains unusually fast, shows a wrong percentage, or only runs while plugged in.

Common Causes

  • Aged battery. Lithium cells lose capacity over years; an old pack simply holds little charge.
  • Pandora / service battery left in. A battery converted for recovery use can confuse charging logic if used daily.
  • Faulty charger or cable. An underpowered or damaged adapter charges slowly or not at all.
  • Dirty or worn charge port. Debris or a loose center pin breaks the connection.

Fixes

  1. Use the original 5V PSP adapter; third-party chargers often lack the needed current.
  2. Inspect and clean the DC jack; wiggle-test the plug to spot a worn port.
  3. Restore any Pandora battery back to a normal state before everyday use, or keep it strictly for recovery.
  4. Replace a battery that no longer holds charge or shows any swelling.

Reading Stuck at 0% or 100%

A miscalibrated gauge can be settled by a full discharge to shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to full while powered off.

Safety Never charge a visibly swollen or hot battery. Replace it before doing any further CFW work.
