Post-install checklist

Post-install checklist

With permanent custom firmware running, take a few minutes to confirm the essentials and set up a comfortable foundation. Working through this list now avoids surprises later.

Confirm the basics

  • Cold-boot check: power off fully and back on; the PSP should reach CFW unaided.
  • Firmware string: System Information shows 6.61 with a custom marker.
  • Homebrew runs: an unsigned app or emulator launches successfully.
  • Recovery menu: you can open the CFW recovery/settings menu during boot.

Set things up

  1. Organize the memory card. Keep homebrew, ISOs of your own games, and saves in their proper folders so the XMB finds them.
  2. Add plugins carefully. If you use plugins, enable them one at a time and test, so you can tell which one caused any issue.
  3. Back up your data. Copy your memory card contents and any important saves to a computer.
  4. Note your setup. Record which CFW (ARK-4 or 6.61 PRO) and that Infinity is installed, for future reference.

Keep a recovery plan

Even with a stable setup, keep the CFW installer on your card. If a bad plugin or setting stops CFW from loading, you can disable plugins from the recovery menu or re-run the installer to recover.

You're ready

That covers a healthy, permanent install. From here, explore homebrew and emulators, and check the keeping-updated page periodically to stay current.
