Homebrew Games and Ports

Not all PSP homebrew is a utility. A vibrant community built original games and ported classic PC and open-source titles to the handheld, all running as ordinary EBOOT applications.

Original Creations

Independent developers wrote everything from puzzle games to platformers and shooters specifically for the PSP. Many were made with hobbyist toolkits and shared freely within the scene.

Ports of Classics

  • Open-source engines brought games like Doom and Quake to the PSP.
  • Puzzle and arcade clones recreate timeless gameplay.
  • Game engine reimplementations let original data files run on the handheld.

Bring Your Own Data

Some ports are just the engine. They need the original game's data files, which you supply from a copy you own, placed in a folder the port specifies.

Quality varies widely. Some homebrew games are unfinished or unstable, so back up your Memory Stick before trying many at once.

Install them like any homebrew, into PSP/GAME, and explore community archives for a surprising amount of free entertainment.
