Memory Stick & microSD
Memory Stick and microSD adapters
Most PSP models store saves and content on Memory Stick Pro Duo cards, a format Sony has long discontinued. That makes genuine high-capacity cards scarce and expensive, so adapters have become the practical choice.
microSD adapters
A microSD-to-Pro-Duo adapter takes a cheap, modern microSD card and presents it to the PSP as a Memory Stick. This is the easiest way to get large, reliable storage today. Single-slot adapters are simpler and more dependable than dual-card versions, which can be fussy.
The PSP Go is different
The PSP Go has internal flash storage and uses the smaller Memory Stick Micro (M2) format instead of Pro Duo, so the standard adapters do not fit it.
Choosing a card
- Capacity — the PSP handles large cards well; a 32GB or 64GB microSD is plenty for most libraries.
- Speed — a name-brand Class 10 card loads comfortably; ultra-fast ratings give no real benefit here.
- Authenticity — buy from a reputable seller, since counterfeit cards report fake capacities and corrupt data.
Before you rely on it
Always test a new card's true capacity before trusting it with saves. tip Keep a backup of your Memory Stick on a computer, because card and adapter failures do happen. Format the card in the PSP itself for best compatibility.
