PSP Street (E1000)

The PSP Street (model PSP-E1000) was Sony's budget release. It keeps the slim body and UMD drive but strips out a few features to lower the price. It is fully compatible with modern custom firmware.

What is missing

  • No Wi-Fi — this is the defining limitation. There is no wireless networking at all.
  • Mono speaker — a single built-in speaker, though headphones still output in stereo.
  • Matte finish — a plain, fingerprint-resistant shell instead of the glossy look.

Installing CFW

Bring the system to official firmware 6.61, then install ARK-4, optionally adding 6.61 Infinity to make it permanent. ARK-4 is maintained and explicitly supports the Street (E1000), so you get the same capabilities as any other model.

No Wi-Fi changes how you move files. You cannot transfer anything wirelessly. Use a USB cable or a Memory Stick Pro Duo card reader to copy CFW files, backups, and homebrew between your computer and the handheld.

Updating without Wi-Fi

Because the Street cannot download updates over the internet, you apply the 6.61 firmware from a file placed on the Memory Stick via USB. Plan to have the update file ready before you start.

For a low-cost unit, the Street loses surprisingly little once CFW is installed. The only real trade-off you live with is the lack of wireless features.
