Save management

Managing Game Saves

PSP game saves are stored on the Memory Stick in a dedicated folder, separate from the games themselves. Knowing where they live makes backing up, transferring, and restoring progress simple.

Where Saves Live

Save data sits under PSP/SAVEDATA, with one subfolder per game named by its internal ID. Each folder holds the save file plus an icon and description the XMB shows in the save menu.

Backing Up

  1. Connect the PSP in USB mode or use a card reader.
  2. Open PSP/SAVEDATA on the Memory Stick.
  3. Copy the game's save folder to your computer.
  4. To restore, copy the folder back into the same location.

Save Managers

Homebrew save managers let you browse, copy, and delete saves directly on the device, which is handy when you have no computer nearby.

Some saves are signed or tied to a specific console. A save copied from another system may be rejected or flagged as corrupt, so back up your own before importing one.

Regular backups protect long playthroughs from card failure or accidental deletion.
