Loading Game Backups
Custom firmware can boot PSP game backups straight from the Memory Stick, no UMD disc required. This is convenient for preserving your own games and for keeping a whole library on a single card.
The ISO Folder
Game images live in a folder named ISO at the root of the Memory Stick. Drop a backup there and it appears in the Game > Memory Stick section of the XMB, ready to launch like a UMD.
- Create an ISO folder at the Memory Stick root if needed.
- Copy your game image file into it.
- On the PSP, open Game and select Memory Stick.
- Choose the title to start it.
UMD Drivers
CFW provides an emulated UMD driver so backups behave like real discs. You can usually switch driver modes if a particular game has trouble loading.
| Folder | Holds |
|---|---|
| ISO | Game backups (ISO/CSO) |
| PSP/GAME | Homebrew and emulators |
Only back up games you own. If a title fails to load, try a different UMD driver mode or re-dump the image, as bad rips are a common cause.
The next page compares the two backup formats, ISO and CSO.
