Is My PSP Compatible?
Good news: every retail PSP model can run custom firmware once it is on official firmware 6.61. The table below summarizes how each model fares with the modern toolset. ARK-4 is actively maintained and covers the entire family, including the Go and the Street (E1000).
| Model | Reaches 6.61? | ARK-4 / Infinity | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| PSP-1000 (Phat) | Yes | Fully supported | Extra RAM hacks; Pandora's Battery option for bricks |
| PSP-2000 (Slim) | Yes | Fully supported | Some early units support Pandora's Battery |
| PSP-3000 | Yes | Fully supported | Hardware-patched against Pandora; use software install |
| PSP Go (N1000) | Yes | Fully supported | Internal storage; ARK-4 explicitly supports it |
| PSP Street (E1000) | Yes | Fully supported | No Wi-Fi; transfer files via USB or card reader |
Checking your firmware
On your PSP, open Settings > System Settings > System Information. The System Software line shows your version. If it already reads 6.61, you are ready to install CFW. If it is lower, see Updating to 6.61 first.
Already running CFW?
If your version line shows something like "6.61 PRO-C" or "6.61 ME/LME", you already have custom firmware installed. Consider migrating to the maintained ARK-4 for the best ongoing experience.
No PSP model is excluded. The only real obstacle is a unit that will not power on or update, which the Pandora's Battery method exists to solve.
