Identifying Your Model

Knowing exactly which PSP you own decides which guide to follow. The model number is printed on a label inside the battery compartment, but the physical design usually gives it away at a glance.

ModelCommon nameTell-tale signs
PSP-1000Phat / FatThickest body, removable battery cover, IR port, UMD drive
PSP-2000SlimNoticeably thinner and lighter than the 1000; UMD drive
PSP-3000Slim (3000)Like the 2000 but with a better screen; microphone built in
PSP-N1000GoSliding screen, no UMD drive, very compact
PSP-E1000StreetMatte finish, no Wi-Fi, mono speaker

Quick visual cues

  • If it has an infrared port and feels chunky, it is a 1000.
  • If it is slim with a disc drive, it is a 2000 or 3000.
  • If the screen slides up to reveal controls and there is no disc slot, it is the Go.
  • If it looks like a Slim but has no wireless switch, it is the Street (E1000).

Confirm in software

You can verify under Settings > System Settings > System Information, which lists the model along with the MAC address and firmware version.

Once you know your model, open its dedicated page for compatibility notes and the recommended CFW path.
